Turn Your Face To The Sun, I Draw Slow (Compass, US)
Whatever Americana scene there may be in Ireland, I Draw Slow have surely conquered it. That this third album sounds pristine, despite being recorded live, is testament to the quintet’s skill and the flair of producer Brian Masterson. Louise and Dave holden’s harmonies rule the dark bubb;e of Maria and the toe-tapping Garage Flowers, while the banjo-and vioin-driven My Portion and the fiery hoedown of Twin Sisters are rousing. These songs sound hewn from the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee, and not their native Dublin.
